Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Patriots let Moss fall and pounced. Final grade: B-.

The Patriots did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Miller Moss fell into No. 241.

Shelton has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The Jackson pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at interior defensive lineman. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Chris Brazzell II
In slot 19 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick55 Rnd2 Drew Shelton
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Drew Shelton well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick86 Rnd3 D'Angelo Ponds
They reached a country mile for D'Angelo Ponds at No. 86, and the board is aghast. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick113 Rnd4 Domani Jackson
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 113th overall pick on Domani Jackson with interior defensive lineman unsolved.
Pick121 Rnd4 Justice Haynes
Justice Haynes in the 121st pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick159 Rnd5 Bryce Boettcher
A reach on Bryce Boettcher in Round 5, Pick 20; the board had better options right there. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick197 Rnd6 Jaren Kanak
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaren Kanak. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick202 Rnd6 Khalil Barnes
A reach for Khalil Barnes in pick No. 202; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick224 Rnd7 Kelby Collins
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kelby Collins this early at Round 7, Pick 6. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick241 Rnd7 Miller Moss
They will replay Miller Moss at the 241st pick for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
