Truckley45 DRAFTING FOR THEVikings
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall

TradesB-
FutureB-
A passer of the future in Mateer, and a B, for the Vikings. Start where it matters. The Vikings took John Mateer to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. That Leavitt pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
John Mateer
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick53
Rnd2
Nyck Harbor
Nyck Harbor slipping to pick No. 53 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick84
Rnd3
Sam Leavitt
You do not let a quarterback like Sam Leavitt reach the Round 3 slot and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick97
Rnd3
Xavier Chaplin
They read the board right and Xavier Chaplin was the payoff at No. 97. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick139
Rnd4
Terry Moore
Value with a capital V on Terry Moore in the 139th overall pick, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick171
Rnd5
Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez in the 171st pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick181
Rnd5
Noah Fifita
Nothing to complain about; Noah Fifita went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick214
Rnd6
Isaiah Nwokobia
They let Isaiah Nwokobia come to them and pounced at slot 214. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick239
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at No. 239 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
