Draft Grade — Colts
Overall

Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Colts. The Colts clearly saw something nobody else did in DeMonte Capehart, taking him 54 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
In the 31st pick they get a bell-cow for the offense at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick63
Rnd2
KC Concepcion
Taking KC Concepcion in No. 63 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick95
Rnd3
DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart in slot 95 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick131
Rnd4
Zachariah Branch
Somehow Zachariah Branch was still sitting there in Round 4, Pick 31, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick170
Rnd5
Max Iheanachor
A tidy bit of business in the 170th overall pick, where Max Iheanachor graded well above the range. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick218
Rnd6
Quinten Joyner
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Quinten Joyner in pick No. 218. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick249
Rnd7
Elliot Washington II
They paid a round early for Elliot Washington II in No. 249, more than the board wanted. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick256
Rnd7
Diego Pavia
They will replay Diego Pavia at slot 256 for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
