Draft Grade — Saints

The Saints cashed the board's mistake on Branch: B. You could see the war room lean forward. Zachariah Branch at pick 147 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. No fireworks, but a solid B.
A whole weekend of picks and offensive lineman is somehow still a want. Every board in the league had Kanak lower, and that gap is the story.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
T.J. Parker
No edge and no loss on T.J. Parker in slot 5; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
A.J. Harris
They let A.J. Harris come to them and pounced at Round 2, Pick 4. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick67
Rnd3
Rod Moore
Rod Moore at No. 67 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick147
Rnd5
Zachariah Branch
Zachariah Branch at pick 147 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick190
Rnd6
Jaren Kanak
A reach for Jaren Kanak in the 190th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
