FutureD
The Bills turned the phones into found money: B. Some picks age like wine; Kai Kroeger at the Round 6 slot will need to, sitting 58 spots clear of his grade.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They banked enough surplus on Barron to cover a lot of smaller sins. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In the 30th overall pick they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33
Rnd2
Jahdae Barron
Jahdae Barron in the Round 2 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick37
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Taking Nick Emmanwori in pick 37 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
Pick44
Rnd2
Matthew Golden
Matthew Golden in pick No. 44 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick131
Rnd4
Tory Horton
Steal is underselling it; Tory Horton at the 131st pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick171
Rnd5
Raheim Sanders
They robbed the room for Raheim Sanders here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick175
Rnd5
Quincy Riley
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Quincy Riley. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick179
Rnd6
Connor Colby
No edge and no loss on Connor Colby in No. 179; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick206
Rnd6
Kai Kroeger
Kai Kroeger at the 206th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick229
Rnd7
Nick Martin
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Nick Martin. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
