Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall A-
ValueA NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Steelers cashed the board's mistake on Skattebo: A-.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Cam Skattebo tumbling to the Steelers in slot 231 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A- to cap it.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.

The veteran additions, Tristan Wirfs chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not. On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most.

In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.

Pick Analysis
Pick55 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
Somehow Malaki Starks was still sitting there in Round 2, Pick 23, and they pounced on premier safety value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick83 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
The board fumbled TreVeyon Henderson all the way to the 83rd overall pick, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick86 Rnd3 Harold Fannin Jr.
Harold Fannin Jr. at the 86th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick127 Rnd4 Dylan Fairchild
You do not let an offensive lineman like Dylan Fairchild reach the Round 4 slot and blink. They did not. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick163 Rnd5 Darius Alexander
Circle this one: Darius Alexander at pick No. 163 is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick225 Rnd7 Jordan Hancock
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Jordan Hancock in slot 225, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick231 Rnd7 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in pick 231 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
Pick247 Rnd7 Jaishawn Barham
Value with a capital V on Jaishawn Barham in No. 247, a genuine coup. A need, and now a little less of one.
