Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesD FutureA+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Bears to a B-.

The Bears went off the board in a big way for De'Corian Clark, 90 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In No. 6 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In pick No. 9 they get a matchup problem out wide. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick39 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
Chop Robinson at slot 39 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick47 Rnd2 Patrick Paul
No drama and no debate, Patrick Paul went about where he belonged in the 47th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick75 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
A straight-up fair deal on Mike Sainristil at pick 75, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick110 Rnd4 De'Corian Clark
A big swing on De'Corian Clark at the Round 4 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick122 Rnd4 Johnny Dixon
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Johnny Dixon. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick146 Rnd5 Braelon Allen
They paid up for Braelon Allen at the 146th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
