Smith should have been long gone. The Panthers pounced, and earned a B.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Maason Smith, the No. 86 name on the board, stolen at slot 180. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Gould has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
