The 49ers cashed the board's mistake on Smith: B.

The 49ers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Brashard Smith fell into the 228th overall pick.

Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will need Campbell to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
