TradesA+
FutureA+
A passer of the future in Sanders, and a A-, for the Giants. When the story of this class is written, it opens with Hayden Conner at Round 4, Pick 16, a reach of 96 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Add it all up and it grades out a clean A-.
The whole projection now runs through Shedeur Sanders; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The Monangai value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up.
A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
In pick 14 they get a franchise quarterback, outstanding value to boot.
Pick15
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
Nice patience on Tetairoa McMillan, who had no business lasting to the 15th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick34
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren at the Round 2 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick48
Rnd2
Jared Ivey
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jared Ivey. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick57
Rnd2
Zy Alexander
By-the-book stuff, Zy Alexander at slot 57 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick65
Rnd3
Alfred Collins
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Alfred Collins at Round 3, Pick 1 is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick80
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
They will replay TreVeyon Henderson at the 80th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick98
Rnd3
Cody Simon
Cody Simon at the 98th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick110
Rnd4
Charles Grant
Charles Grant in No. 110 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick116
Rnd4
Hollin Pierce
Hollin Pierce in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick117
Rnd4
Hayden Conner
This one needs a full-page explanation: Hayden Conner in pick No. 117, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick134
Rnd4
Addison West
Addison West in Round 4, Pick 33 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick152
Rnd5
Logan Brown
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Logan Brown. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick155
Rnd5
Willie Lampkin
They reached into another round for Willie Lampkin, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick221
Rnd7
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Taking Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the 221st overall pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick234
Rnd7
Jamon Dumas-Johnson
Jamon Dumas-Johnson at the 234th pick is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick248
Rnd7
Kyle Monangai
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Kyle Monangai in No. 248, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
