samjs1 DRAFTING FOR THEBears
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B

FutureB-
Grand theft in the 240th overall pick: the Bears steal Edwards and grade out a B. You build a draft on nights like this. Donovan Edwards had no business being available in slot 240, and the Bears did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Mason Graham
In slot 10 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick39
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
They let Jalon Walker come to them and pounced at the 39th pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick41
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton slipping to pick No. 41 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick72
Rnd3
Marcus Mbow
Marcus Mbow at No. 72 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick148
Rnd5
Pat Bryant
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Pat Bryant. It fills a real need, too.
Pick233
Rnd7
Desmond Watson
A clean, defensible pick in pick 233 with a little surplus value in Desmond Watson. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick240
Rnd7
Donovan Edwards
Steal is underselling it; Donovan Edwards at the 240th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
