Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the 49ers a B-.

Nobody had Trey Moore this high, and it is not close. The 49ers reached 62 spots to get him at Round 4, Pick 33.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. The Slaughter steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Caleb Banks
In slot 25 they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick57 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jake Slaughter at the 57th pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick89 Rnd3 Julian Neal
Julian Neal in the 89th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick125 Rnd4 Monroe Freeling
Nice patience on Monroe Freeling, who had no business lasting to Round 4, Pick 25. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick133 Rnd4 Trey Moore
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trey Moore in pick 133, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick139 Rnd4 Jacob Rodriguez
They jumped the gun on Jacob Rodriguez, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick172 Rnd5 Gracen Halton
They liked Gracen Halton enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 172. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
