FOXY KNOXY DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Picks Received
Draft Picks Traded
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB-
TradesB
FutureB-
The Seahawks checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. The Seahawks went off the board in a big way for Jackson Hawes, 48 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Alexander at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They will answer for taking cornerback early while linebacker went begging.
Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Jahdae Barron
In the 20th pick they get a ballhawk on the outside. Need was not the driver here.
Pick50
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
A clean, defensible pick in pick 50 with a little surplus value in Xavier Watts. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick52
Rnd2
Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick82
Rnd3
Ashton Gillotte
A reach on Ashton Gillotte in the 82nd overall pick; the board had better options right there. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick85
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo in slot 85 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick92
Rnd3
Kyle McCord
Kyle McCord in pick No. 92 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick122
Rnd4
Zy Alexander
They bypassed pressing needs at linebacker to take Zy Alexander, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Pick137
Rnd4
Jackson Slater
A conviction pick on Jackson Slater at slot 137 that the board grades a round light. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick172
Rnd5
JJ Pegues
A reach for JJ Pegues in pick No. 172; a little patience would have been rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick175
Rnd5
Clay Webb
They reached into another round for Clay Webb, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick208
Rnd6
Jackson Hawes
Jackson Hawes at the 208th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick223
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa in Round 7, Pick 7 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick234
Rnd7
Phil Mafah
A tidy bit of business in No. 234, where Phil Mafah graded well above the range. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
