The Saints cashed the board's mistake on Jones: B. Thirty-one other rooms let Jarrian Jones slide, and the Saints were the ones holding the card at No. 174. Highway robbery. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Every board in the league had Hall lower, and that gap is the story. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
JC Latham
In pick No. 14 they get a cornerstone up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick45
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell at Round 2, Pick 13 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick167
Rnd5
Jaheim Bell
A tidy little value on Jaheim Bell in the 167th pick, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick169
Rnd5
Jordan Travis
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jordan Travis at slot 169 is the proof. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick174
Rnd5
Jarrian Jones
Circle this one: Jarrian Jones at No. 174 is a fall that decides a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick192
Rnd6
Isaiah Williams
Isaiah Williams in the 192nd overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick201
Rnd6
Gabe Hall
A reach for Gabe Hall in pick 201; a little patience would have been rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick230
Rnd7
Frank Gore Jr.
Fair-plus on Frank Gore Jr., a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
