The Saints cashed the board's mistake on Claiborne: A. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Saints were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A to cap it.
They banked enough surplus on Claiborne to cover a lot of smaller sins. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The Saints paired the rookies with proven help, Brock Purdy leading the way.
Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.
