Draft Grade — Saints
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureA
The Saints bled value on every deal, hence the D.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Saints shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. A D that will need time and luck to look better.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Reaching for Green left real value on the table behind him.

It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Cooper DeJean
In No. 14 they get a lockdown presence outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick45 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 2 slot with a little surplus value in Tyler Guyton. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick75 Rnd3 Payton Wilson
Fair-plus on Payton Wilson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick117 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson in pick 117 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick136 Rnd4 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
They liked Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 136. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick152 Rnd5 McCallan Castles
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on McCallan Castles. It fills a real need, too.
Pick170 Rnd5 Jordan Jefferson
Jordan Jefferson at Round 5, Pick 34 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick176 Rnd6 Ethan Driskell
They paid up for Ethan Driskell at slot 176 when waiting would have done the job. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick192 Rnd6 Kimani Vidal
By-the-book stuff, Kimani Vidal at the 192nd pick squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick200 Rnd6 Jalen Green
A conviction pick on Jalen Green at No. 200 that the board grades a round light. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
