The Saints checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Saints reached some 47 spots for Trey Moore, and value like that does not grow back. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

On value alone, Pavia makes the weekend a net positive. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.

Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

In the 8th pick they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece at fair value. More want than need.
Pick42 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
Olaivavega Ioane in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.

Quietly one of the better values of the day, A'Mauri Washington at slot 73. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.

Chris Johnson slipping to pick No. 132 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.

Somehow Diego Pavia was still sitting there in the 138th overall pick, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
