The Saints let Sampson fall into their laps, and walked away with a D.

The phones were a trap the Saints kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.

Getting Sampson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.
