The Saints lost the trade table, and the D tells the story. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Saints did exactly that with Jack Kelly in Round 6, Pick 10.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Getting Hall where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
