The Saints torched the value chart for Solomon Byrd, taking him 58 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

Smith-Wade falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
