The real work happened on the phones. The Saints fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with.

Allen falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The veteran additions, Ed Oliver chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

Bottom line, with Denzel Boston leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
