Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesC FutureB
The Saints did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

The Saints torched the value chart for Joe Milton III, taking him 32 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

They banked enough surplus on Coleman to cover a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.

The Saints paired the rookies with proven help, Sam Hubbard leading the way. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In the 14th pick they get a problem off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick64 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman at the 64th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick95 Rnd3 Trey Benson
Trey Benson at slot 95 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick133 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson at No. 133 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick149 Rnd5 Kalen King
Value with a capital V on Kalen King in the Round 5 slot, a genuine coup. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick167 Rnd5 Joe Milton III
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Joe Milton III. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick169 Rnd5 Javion Cohen
They took Javion Cohen at par in Round 5, Pick 33, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick174 Rnd5 Zion Tupuola-Fetui
They reached a country mile for Zion Tupuola-Fetui at the 174th overall pick, and the board is aghast. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick192 Rnd6 Curtis Jacobs
By-the-book stuff, Curtis Jacobs at No. 192 squarely in line with his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick201 Rnd6 Daequan Hardy
A clean, defensible pick in the 201st pick with a little surplus value in Daequan Hardy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick216 Rnd6 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at slot 216 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick230 Rnd7 Jordan Magee
Jordan Magee at pick No. 230 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick243 Rnd7 Trevin Wallace
Trevin Wallace at the Round 7 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick251 Rnd7 Sheridan Jones
Steal is underselling it; Sheridan Jones at pick 251 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
