FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Saints, and a B to prove it. The one they had to fix is still broken. The Saints left offensive lineman untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
They will need Dorlus to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the offensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In No. 18 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick45
Rnd2
Kalen King
A clean, defensible pick in slot 45 with a little surplus value in Kalen King. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick49
Rnd2
Brandon Dorlus
Brandon Dorlus in Round 2, Pick 17 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
