Larceny in Round 5, Pick 3 lands the Saints a B+, Abney II and all. The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Keith Abney II, pick 141, roughly 33 picks past where he belonged. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They are betting Mathews Jr. proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
