Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Saints for Majors: B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Saints watched Jake Majors slide 56 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. The cost of the Lindenberg reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

The skill positions did well by the weekend.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In slot 9 they get a featured back. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
Taking Tyler Warren in the Round 2 slot is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick71 Rnd3 Tre Harris
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 71 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick93 Rnd3 Charles Grant
By-the-book stuff, Charles Grant at the 93rd overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick112 Rnd4 Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at the 112th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick131 Rnd4 Jaylin Noel
Somehow Jaylin Noel was still sitting there in pick No. 131, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick184 Rnd6 Jake Majors
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jake Majors in Round 6, Pick 8, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick248 Rnd7 Cody Lindenberg
Cody Lindenberg in No. 248 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick254 Rnd7 Ricky White III
The board fumbled Ricky White III all the way to Round 7, Pick 38, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
