FutureA+
Best value of the weekend goes to the Saints for Harris: B. The Saints lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. The bottom line is a respectable B.
That Harris pick is the receipt they will wave around later. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Mykel Williams
In No. 24 they get a problem off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick40
Rnd2
Derrick Harmon
Derrick Harmon at the Round 2 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick71
Rnd3
Tre Harris
Tre Harris in pick No. 71 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick93
Rnd3
Dylan Fairchild
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dylan Fairchild. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick111
Rnd4
Denzel Burke
Taking Denzel Burke in the 111th pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick130
Rnd4
Shemar Turner
Shemar Turner in Round 4, Pick 29 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick186
Rnd6
Jason Marshall Jr.
Jason Marshall Jr. at No. 186 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick254
Rnd7
Donovan Edwards
No edge and no loss on Donovan Edwards in slot 254; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
