Draft Grade — Saints
Overall F
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureD-
The Saints bet the future on Sanders. The board says F.

The Saints lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. The warnings were there, and the F is the bill.

Burch has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. So much rides on Shedeur Sanders that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him.

The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Cornelius falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

The verdict is harsh because the weekend was, and there is little to argue.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Shedeur Sanders
In No. 3 they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
Pick31 Rnd1 JT Tuimoloau
In slot 31 they get a double-digit-sack hope, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick42 Rnd2 Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis in pick 42 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick63 Rnd2 Tate Ratledge
Good price on Tate Ratledge in Round 2, Pick 31, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick74 Rnd3 Ajani Cornelius
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ajani Cornelius at the Round 3 slot is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick95 Rnd3 Shilo Sanders
A quiet steal in the 95th overall pick: Shilo Sanders for less than the market said. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick106 Rnd4 Jordan Burch
Value said wait; Jordan Burch in the 106th pick says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick138 Rnd5 Jasheen Davis
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jasheen Davis. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick170 Rnd6 Tyler Baron
A real head-scratcher, Tyler Baron in pick 170 is miles ahead of his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
