Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB+ FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Saints: B.

When the story of this class is written, it opens with Tanor Bortolini at the Round 5 slot, a reach of 39 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

The Pritchett value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
Dallas Turner at Round 1, Pick 18 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick45 Rnd2 Jordan Morgan
Jordan Morgan slid further than he should have, and slot 45 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick49 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman at the Round 2 slot is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick150 Rnd5 Tanor Bortolini
They talked themselves into Tanor Bortolini at the 150th pick, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick168 Rnd5 Tykee Smith
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tykee Smith in pick No. 168. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick170 Rnd5 Nehemiah Pritchett
A cornerback of that caliber at No. 170 is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick175 Rnd5 Jordan Travis
They paid sticker price for Jordan Travis in Round 5, Pick 39, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick190 Rnd6 Ty'Ron Hopper
They read the board right and Ty'Ron Hopper was the payoff at pick 190. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick199 Rnd6 Tahj Washington
Nice patience on Tahj Washington, who had no business lasting to No. 199. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick214 Rnd6 M.J. Devonshire
M.J. Devonshire at the 214th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick239 Rnd7 Garret Greenfield
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Garret Greenfield in the 239th overall pick, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
