flablete1 DRAFTING FOR THESaints
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Saints
Overall
B

Skattebo should have been long gone. The Saints pounced, and earned a B. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Cam Skattebo got past him. The Saints do not have to explain a thing at pick 183.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Mason Graham
Mason Graham in the 9th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
Pick40
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Circle this one: Nick Emmanwori at No. 40 is a fall that decides a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick71
Rnd3
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren in Round 3, Pick 7 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick90
Rnd3
Deontae Lawson
They read the board right and Deontae Lawson was the payoff at slot 90. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick111
Rnd4
Jake Majors
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jake Majors in pick No. 111, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick128
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
Taking Tez Johnson in the 128th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick183
Rnd6
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at pick 183 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick253
Rnd7
Jack Kiser
They barely believed it either: Jack Kiser still on the board at the Round 7 slot. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
