Draft Grade — Saints
Overall F
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureD-
The Saints found their guy under center in Daniels: F.

Somebody took the Saints to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. Little went right, and the F does not pretend otherwise.

Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Simpson. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

There is no soft landing here; this class has to massively overperform just to matter.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
Jayden Daniels at No. 5 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick14 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In slot 14 they get a go-to option on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick136 Rnd4 Javon Foster
They read the board right and Javon Foster was the payoff at pick No. 136. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick152 Rnd5 Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray at Round 5, Pick 16 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick170 Rnd5 Daijun Edwards
You do not let a running back like Daijun Edwards reach pick 170 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick176 Rnd6 Cam Hart
Taking Cam Hart in the 176th pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick192 Rnd6 Jaylin Simpson
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Jaylin Simpson in the 192nd overall pick, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick200 Rnd6 Javon Baker
The board fumbled Javon Baker all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
