Best value of the weekend goes to the Jaguars for Higgins: B. The board owed the Jaguars one, and it paid up: Jay Higgins, the No. 125 name on the board, sitting there at the Round 7 slot like a gift left on the doorstep. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
McCord has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 7 of 9 of the wish list covered. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In pick 4 they get a go-to option on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori in slot 35 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick71
Rnd3
Dylan Fairchild
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Dylan Fairchild in Round 3, Pick 7. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick92
Rnd3
Alfred Collins
They barely believed it either: Alfred Collins still on the board at the Round 3 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick107
Rnd4
Jake Majors
Jake Majors in the 107th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick134
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
They robbed the room for Tez Johnson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick142
Rnd5
Kyle McCord
A real head-scratcher, Kyle McCord in the 142nd overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick179
Rnd6
Nicholas Singleton
The board fumbled Nicholas Singleton all the way to pick No. 179, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick193
Rnd6
Chris Paul Jr.
Somehow Chris Paul Jr. was still sitting there in pick 193, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick218
Rnd7
Ar'maj Reed-Adams
A tidy bit of business in Round 7, Pick 4, where Ar'maj Reed-Adams graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick219
Rnd7
Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins in the Round 7 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
