The Bears spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Woody Marks, the No. 180 name on the board, in Round 7, Pick 35.

It is not that Starks is a bad player; it is that the Bears had louder needs to answer first. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
