Draft Grade — Commanders

FutureA+
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Commanders: B+. Call it larceny. CJ Allen sat on the board until No. 62, and the Commanders did not need to be asked twice.
They will need Jacas to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Robert Spillane gives the group a proven body among the projects. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Avieon Terrell
In pick No. 30 they get a press-man option on the boundary, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick62
Rnd2
CJ Allen
CJ Allen in the 62nd overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick71
Rnd3
Gabe Jacas
Gabe Jacas at pick No. 71 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick130
Rnd4
Trinidad Chambliss
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Trinidad Chambliss in pick 130. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick146
Rnd5
J.C. Davis
A quiet steal in slot 146: J.C. Davis for less than the market said. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick186
Rnd6
Isaiah Nwokobia
They paid sticker price for Isaiah Nwokobia in Round 6, Pick 6, and that is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick197
Rnd6
Jaren Kanak
Jaren Kanak at the 197th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick223
Rnd7
Hykeem Williams
The board had cheaper options than Hykeem Williams at No. 223, and it noticed. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
