Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall
D-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesF
FutureB-
The Commanders got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-. The Commanders lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.
The cost of the Zuhn III reach is exactly the players who went right after him. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver.
Getting Jackson Jr. where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and wide receiver is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
The board had Jeremiyah Love higher than pick No. 12, and the running back fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick71
Rnd3
Jake Golday
They read the board right and Jake Golday was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 7. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick104
Rnd4
Tyreak Sapp
A real head-scratcher, Tyreak Sapp in No. 104 is miles ahead of his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick112
Rnd4
Darrell Jackson Jr.
The board fumbled Darrell Jackson Jr. all the way to slot 112, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
Pick145
Rnd5
Albert Regis
They talked themselves into Albert Regis at the 145th overall pick, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick150
Rnd5
Nate Boerkircher
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Nate Boerkircher. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick181
Rnd6
Taylen Green
Taylen Green in the Round 6 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick185
Rnd6
Jalen Stroman
Jalen Stroman in pick 185 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick196
Rnd6
Ephesians Prysock
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ephesians Prysock at slot 196 is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick223
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
Value said wait; Trey Zuhn III in Round 7, Pick 7 says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
