The Bengals let Johnson fall into their laps, and walked away with a B+.

Somebody in slot 81 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bengals sat still while Kaleb Johnson, the No. 48 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. If Kiser pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. It is not that Watts is a bad player; it is that the Bengals had louder needs to answer first.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
