Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall A-
ValueA- NeedB- TradesA+ FutureA
The Vikings cashed the board's mistake on Sadiq: A-.

The Vikings ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. On value alone, Sadiq makes the weekend a net positive.

Adding Christian Gonzalez by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies. Safety was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Arvell Reese and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
Arvell Reese at pick No. 30 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick43 Rnd2 Kenyon Sadiq
Taking Kenyon Sadiq in Round 2, Pick 11 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick75 Rnd3 Michael Taaffe
The board had Michael Taaffe higher than No. 75, and the safety fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick97 Rnd3 Nyck Harbor
Good price on Nyck Harbor in the 97th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick161 Rnd5 Iapani Laloulu
No edge and no loss on Iapani Laloulu in slot 161; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick162 Rnd5 Jacob Rodriguez
No drama and no debate, Jacob Rodriguez went about where he belonged in pick 162. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick242 Rnd7 Desmond Reid
Desmond Reid in Round 7, Pick 27 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
