Overall
B
ValueB-

TradesA-
FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the 49ers. Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the 49ers spent slot 230 on Mose Vavao, a name most had 77 spots down the list. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
That is a quarterback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In the 11th overall pick they get a run-stuffing presence up front, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick51
Rnd2
Jonah Savaiinaea
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jonah Savaiinaea in the 51st pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick75
Rnd3
Jordan Burch
A reach for Jordan Burch in Round 3, Pick 11; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Pick85
Rnd3
Demetrius Knight Jr.
Somehow Demetrius Knight Jr. was still sitting there in pick 85, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. The roster fit checks out.
Pick100
Rnd3
Kevin Winston Jr.
Kevin Winston Jr. at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick113
Rnd4
Jayden Higgins
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick No. 113 is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick138
Rnd4
Kalel Mullings
Steal is underselling it; Kalel Mullings at Round 4, Pick 36 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick187
Rnd6
Dillon Gabriel
Circle this one: Dillon Gabriel at the Round 6 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick226
Rnd7
Kyle Monangai
The board fumbled Kyle Monangai all the way to pick No. 226, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick230
Rnd7
Mose Vavao
This one needs a full-page explanation: Mose Vavao in the 230th overall pick, miles early. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick249
Rnd7
Shilo Sanders
Shilo Sanders at pick 249 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick252
Rnd7
Bryan Felter
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Bryan Felter. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
