Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesB FutureB-
The Texans did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

When the story of this class is written, it opens with Jayson Jones at No. 245, a reach of 161 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

They banked enough surplus on Arnold to cover a lot of smaller sins. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The trade work was a quiet net positive.

Job largely done: running back settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In the 23rd pick they get a double-digit-sack hope, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick44 Rnd2 Terrion Arnold
Somehow Terrion Arnold was still sitting there in slot 44, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick86 Rnd3 Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock at pick No. 86 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick124 Rnd4 Javon Foster
Good price on Javon Foster in Round 4, Pick 24, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It fills a real need, too.
Pick128 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at the 128th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick236 Rnd7 Keilan Robinson
Keilan Robinson at the Round 7 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick245 Rnd7 Jayson Jones
They reached into another round for Jayson Jones, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick250 Rnd7 Ethan Driskell
They took Ethan Driskell at par in pick 250, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
