Draft Grade — Jets
Overall D
ValueC+ NeedB TradesF FutureA
The Jets got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D.

You can hear the double-takes from here. The Jets took Quinn Ewers at the 33rd pick, roughly 53 spots before his name belonged.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Taylor. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Wyatt Milum
In pick No. 12 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick33 Rnd2 Quinn Ewers
Quinn Ewers at the 33rd pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick44 Rnd2 Denzel Burke
A wild overpay on Denzel Burke in No. 44, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick68 Rnd3 Jihaad Campbell
The board fumbled Jihaad Campbell all the way to slot 68, and they scooped it up. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick108 Rnd4 Luke Kandra
A reasonable price with a little left over, Luke Kandra in the 108th overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick125 Rnd4 Elic Ayomanor
You do not let a wide receiver like Elic Ayomanor reach Round 4, Pick 24 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick144 Rnd5 Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor at the 144th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick184 Rnd6 Simeon Barrow Jr.
They will replay Simeon Barrow Jr. at pick No. 184 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick223 Rnd7 Jordan Hancock
Taking Jordan Hancock in the Round 7 slot is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
