Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
D
ValueB

FutureB-
The Seahawks won the night they stopped Higgins from sliding. Grade: D. Somebody in the 210th pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Seahawks sat still while Jay Higgins, the No. 120 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A D that will need time and luck to look better.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. If McCord pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, running back very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Jalon Walker
In the Round 1 slot they get a three-down second-level presence. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick50
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
Value with a capital V on Tyler Booker in pick 50, a genuine coup. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick54
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
They took JT Tuimoloau at par in slot 54, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick82
Rnd3
Kyle McCord
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kyle McCord well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick122
Rnd4
Jake Majors
Jake Majors at Round 4, Pick 21 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick136
Rnd4
Kyren Lacy
Somehow Kyren Lacy was still sitting there in the 136th pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick171
Rnd5
Willie Lampkin
Willie Lampkin at pick No. 171 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick183
Rnd6
JJ Pegues
A clean, defensible pick in the 183rd overall pick with a little surplus value in JJ Pegues. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick210
Rnd6
Jay Higgins
They will replay Jay Higgins at pick 210 for years; that is how good the value is. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick234
Rnd7
Terrance Ferguson
Terrance Ferguson in slot 234 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
