Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
B+
ValueB

TradesA+
FutureB
The Bears won the night they stopped Williams from sliding. Grade: B+. When a board-topper like Savion Williams slides to slot 149, you do not overthink it, and the Bears did not. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The Bears clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Kelvin Banks Jr.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kelvin Banks Jr.. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick39
Rnd2
Jonah Savaiinaea
A premium they did not need to pay, Jonah Savaiinaea a notch or two before his time. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick66
Rnd3
Alfred Collins
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Alfred Collins in pick 66. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick72
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at the Round 3 slot is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick149
Rnd5
Savion Williams
They will replay Savion Williams at Round 5, Pick 10 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick197
Rnd6
Jaylen Reed
A safety of that caliber at pick No. 197 is the definition of value, full stop. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick235
Rnd7
Jake Briningstool
No drama and no debate, Jake Briningstool went about where he belonged in the 235th overall pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick242
Rnd7
Clay Webb
By-the-book stuff, Clay Webb at slot 242 squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
