Draft Grade — Patriots

FutureB
The Patriots cashed the board's mistake on Stewart: B+. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Patriots watched Evan Stewart slide 37 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Warren has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick41
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kenneth Grant at pick No. 41 is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick60
Rnd2
Quincy Riley
A reach for Quincy Riley in Round 2, Pick 28; a little patience would have been rewarded. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick63
Rnd2
Dontay Corleone
They let Dontay Corleone come to them and pounced at the 63rd overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick66
Rnd3
Oscar Delp
Oscar Delp at slot 66 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick92
Rnd3
Evan Stewart
Evan Stewart in the Round 3 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick94
Rnd3
Sonny Styles
They did well to land Sonny Styles in pick 94, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick95
Rnd3
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren at the 95th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick104
Rnd4
Kyle Monangai
A reach on Kyle Monangai in No. 104; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick130
Rnd5
Jonah Coleman
A clean, defensible pick in No. 130 with a little surplus value in Jonah Coleman. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick194
Rnd7
Kaden Prather
Kaden Prather at pick No. 194 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
