Larceny in pick No. 113 lands the Ravens a B, Carson and all. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Ravens were there to profit. Caelen Carson, the No. 94 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 113.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom. Nothing gained and nothing lost at the table.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick33
Rnd2
Troy Fautanu
Troy Fautanu slipping to pick 33 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick62
Rnd2
Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske at No. 62 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick93
Rnd3
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at Round 3, Pick 30 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick113
Rnd4
Caelen Carson
Steal is underselling it; Caelen Carson at the Round 4 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick130
Rnd4
Christian Jones
Christian Jones at the 130th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick158
Rnd5
Luke McCaffrey
A slide stopped in pick No. 158, with Luke McCaffrey worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick165
Rnd5
Isaiah Davis
A tidy bit of business in the 165th pick, where Isaiah Davis graded well above the range. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick184
Rnd6
Nelson Ceaser
Nelson Ceaser at slot 184 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick218
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jaylan Ford in pick 218. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick228
Rnd7
Logan Lee
Logan Lee is a better player than Round 7, Pick 8 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
