Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall D
ValueC NeedB+ TradesF FutureA
The Cowboys lost the trade table, and the D tells the story.

The Cowboys went off the board in a big way for Germie Bernard, 87 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. A D that will need time and luck to look better.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Dart.

The Cowboys clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and tight end is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Kalel Mullings
In pick No. 32 they get a bell-cow for the offense, even if it was a touch early. A real need, handled.
Pick44 Rnd2 Jay Higgins
They paid up for Jay Higgins at the 44th pick when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick77 Rnd3 Clay Webb
Clay Webb is a better player than the 77th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick113 Rnd4 Dontay Corleone
Nothing to complain about; Dontay Corleone went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick151 Rnd5 Jaxson Dart
Somehow Jaxson Dart was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick169 Rnd5 Germie Bernard
They reached into another round for Germie Bernard, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick170 Rnd5 Jermari Harris
Jermari Harris in slot 170 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick172 Rnd5 Logan Brown
Logan Brown at No. 172 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick188 Rnd6 Brennan Presley
They paid sticker price for Brennan Presley in the 188th pick, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick209 Rnd6 Trey Moore
Value said wait; Trey Moore in pick No. 209 says they were not listening. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
