Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall D-
ValueC NeedB TradesF FutureB
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Falcons to a D-.

The Falcons spent real capital to be 79 picks early on DeMonte Capehart, and the board is going to hold them to it.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped offensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

Pavia at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and offensive lineman is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Denzel Boston
In No. 25 they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick46 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman at pick No. 46 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick73 Rnd3 Colton Hood
A reasonable price with a little left over, Colton Hood in pick 73. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick77 Rnd3 DeMonte Capehart
They reached a country mile for DeMonte Capehart at Round 3, Pick 13, and the board is aghast. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick85 Rnd3 Mikail Kamara
This one needs a full-page explanation: Mikail Kamara in slot 85, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick86 Rnd3 Anto Saka
Anto Saka in the 86th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick110 Rnd4 Derrick Moore
Derrick Moore at pick 110 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick125 Rnd4 Diego Pavia
Taking Diego Pavia in the 125th pick is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick190 Rnd6 Duce Robinson
Duce Robinson slipping to Round 6, Pick 10 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick224 Rnd7 Jack Velling
They reached into another round for Jack Velling, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
