Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall D-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesF FutureB
The Bengals got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-.

The Bengals torched the value chart for Phillip Webb, taking him 129 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain.

However the rest shakes out, Sanders at that price is a win they earned.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Mykel Williams
In the 17th pick they get a premier pass rusher at fair value.
Pick49 Rnd2 Elic Ayomanor
They went early on Elic Ayomanor in pick No. 49, and the value did not follow. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick60 Rnd2 Deone Walker
No drama and no debate, Deone Walker went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick77 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
A reasonable price with a little left over, Elijah Arroyo in pick 77. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick81 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson at slot 81 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick101 Rnd3 O'Donnell Fortune
A wild overpay on O'Donnell Fortune in the 101st overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick145 Rnd5 Connor Colby
Value said wait; Connor Colby in the 145th overall pick says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
Pick154 Rnd5 Raheim Sanders
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Raheim Sanders at pick 154. The roster fit checks out.
Pick195 Rnd6 Phillip Webb
They left a pile of value on the table to take Phillip Webb this early at the 195th pick. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
