Draft Grade — Bears

FutureA+
The Bears found their guy under center in Daniels: D. The rest of the league had time to spare on Myles Cole; the Bears did not wait, grabbing him 182 spots ahead at the 117th overall pick. A D that will need time and luck to look better.
Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
The Mitchell pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get the face of the franchise at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick11
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In pick No. 11 they get a long-term starter on the line. A real need, handled.
Pick20
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a No. 1 receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick39
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
A reasonable price with a little left over, Xavier Legette in slot 39. The roster fit checks out.
Pick47
Rnd2
Quinyon Mitchell
Quinyon Mitchell is a better player than No. 47 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick52
Rnd2
Zach Frazier
They jumped the gun on Zach Frazier, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick75
Rnd3
Mason McCormick
They left a pile of value on the table to take Mason McCormick this early at No. 75. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick96
Rnd3
Jaden Hicks
The board had cheaper options than Jaden Hicks at the Round 3 slot, and it noticed. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick111
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen in slot 111 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick115
Rnd4
Ben Sinnott
A real head-scratcher, Ben Sinnott in the 115th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick117
Rnd4
Myles Cole
Myles Cole in pick No. 117 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
