The Bears found their guy under center in Penix Jr.: D.

Somebody took the Bears to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

Whatever Michael Penix Jr. becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. They will need Murphy II to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.

The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
