Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

ValueB-
NeedB

FutureB-
The Bears worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+. Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Bears came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
The cost of the Estime reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They will answer for taking safety early while interior defensive lineman, cornerback and other spots went begging.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Joe Alt
In slot 4 they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
Pick15
Rnd1
Jared Verse
No edge and no loss on Jared Verse in the 15th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick27
Rnd1
Keon Coleman
In pick No. 27 they get a true top target at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Tyler Nubin
Tyler Nubin at Round 2, Pick 3 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick50
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson in the 50th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick54
Rnd2
Kingsley Suamataia
No drama and no debate, Kingsley Suamataia went about where he belonged in pick 54. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick66
Rnd3
Audric Estime
They talked themselves into Audric Estime at the Round 3 slot, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick75
Rnd3
Malachi Corley
A straight-up fair deal on Malachi Corley at No. 75, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick96
Rnd3
Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson at slot 96 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick114
Rnd4
James Williams
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending Round 4, Pick 14 on James Williams with interior defensive lineman, cornerback and other spots unsolved.
Pick122
Rnd4
Ben Sinnott
A reach for Ben Sinnott in the Round 4 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
