Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA- FutureB+
Quarterback settled, Maye in the fold, and a B for the Bears.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.

They are betting Van Pran proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Hicks pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots still on the board.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In the Round 1 slot they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick10 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In pick No. 10 they get a go-to option on the outside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick17 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In the 17th overall pick they get a disruptor off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick36 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
A tidy bit of business in pick 36, where Keon Coleman graded well above the range. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick41 Rnd2 Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia in Round 2, Pick 9 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick68 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
They reached a country mile for Sedrick Van Pran at No. 68, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick74 Rnd3 Javon Bullard
Javon Bullard slid further than he should have, and the 74th pick is lovely value for the safety. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick110 Rnd4 Cooper Beebe
No drama and no debate, Cooper Beebe went about where he belonged in slot 110. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick132 Rnd4 Jaden Hicks
They bypassed pressing needs at interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots to take Jaden Hicks, a safety that was not the priority.
Pick134 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
They reached into another round for Darius Robinson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
